Interview, Tito Mateo

Tito Mateo was born in 1969 and raised in Rochester, NY, until his family moved to Puerto Rico when he was fairly young. The family returned to the United States several years later and he eventually moved back to Rochester and started his own landscaping business.

In this interview, Tito Mateo discusses what it was like growing up in Rochester, what he loves and misses about Puerto Rico, and what he knows of Puerto Rico’s history. He also explains the difficulties he faced in going to prison, his experiences running his own business, and how he feels about being stereotyped and judged based on his background. He also discusses how he feels about the idea of Puerto Rico becoming a state and offers some advice that he would like to share with others.
