Article, “A Tragic Act”

Rochester priest, Msgr. Charles F. Shay of Holy Rosary Church, writes an article to correct false rumors about Irene Conole’s character and to celebrate her short life. Shay reports that Irene was a devout Catholic, an excellent student, a good friend and coworkers, and a model naval recruit. The pastor includes favorable testimony about Irene from several of her former acquaintances. He writes that any description of Irene that suggests she was less than virtuous is “a falsification of character.”
