Adrian Arellano was born in 1981 and raised in Texas, where most of his family still lives. His grandparents on both sides immigrated to the United States from Mexico for employment and raised their families in Texas. He attended graduate school at Texas Tech University and has lived in Rochester, NY, for about a decade at the time of this interview.

In this interview, Arellano discusses family traditions involving food, his experiences leaving his primarily Mexican-American hometown, and the differences he sees between each generation of his family in terms of opportunities and assimilation. He explains his understanding of discrimination against Hispanic people, the importance of family, and how he views his own culture and history. He also discusses philosophy and some trends he has noticed in the broader Latino community.
