Letter, Mary S. Anthony to Anna Dann Mason
A letter from Mary S. Anthony to the Anthony sisters’ housekeeper and secretary, Anna Dann Mason. Mary asks Anna if she has the recipe for Mrs. Harper’s sister’s “Higdom.” She updates her on work and recent visitors to the Anthony home at 17 Madison Street.

Dear Anna
I have hunted through
all the recipe books for the
one for “Higdon”, from Mrs Harper’s
Sister – but find only the
Mrs Farmer’s, which I think you
did not use – Do you know
where it is? Margaret & I
put up 17 qt. cans of tomatoes
last week, and when the things
for the higdon are ready we
will have to tackle it – –
So if you have the recipe
in your belongings, please
send on, with any alterations
you may think best as to
amount of spices, peppers &c.
We had six extras
[page 2]
to tea last night – program
committee, for club, – Mrs
Sweet & her mother will be
here to tea this p.m. –
Cousin Jessie Anthony came
(from California) last Thursday
& talks of staying until next
week Thursday – two weeks –
and going with Susan B to
Buffalo the 9th & 10th
Some convention, of National
of Engineers, is being held in the
city & Susan & Jessie will go
with the ladies a Tally-ho
ride over the city tomorrow
Now for the work of
getting program arranged
for the year – Margaret &
her mother & uncle went to
Buffalo yesterday – It is now
delightful weather –
Love to Mrs Harper
M.S. Anthony
