Dear Kate
I am here yet
I expect too leave here for
Glascow on the 3rd. I have been
too Ho Hollingworths this
afternoon but did not get
through there. and am going
out there in the morning.
I dont know whether I will
be able too do anything with
the filer gear or not I think
Hollingworth has something up
[page 2]
his sleeve but so far has not
shown it. there is not the
least doubt however but
there will be a good sale for
gear planers as they are
abandoning the cutti use
off cast gearing. and the
other methods in use here
are very ancient.
Churchil has two very bright
men here. located in Manchester
both machinists. but never
seen a gear planer in motion
untill this foornoon. What
we need is a good man here
that could go in too the
shop and run the machine
[page 3]
if Andrew could be spared
there is a big field. here but
we can talk that over later.
I could stay here indefinitely
and find something new
every day. the heads off
departments. dont get to work
before 10 and generaly take lunch
at 1. P.M when they frequently
dont turn up after that event
but they generaly despatch a good
deal off business in a short
time they dont know any
thing about Mfg I called on
Mr Reynold and he treated
me very nicely. Mr Brillard
is here yet toogather with
Churchils men makes it
[page 4]
more engoyable than it
otherwise would be. I am
anxious too get home
and start introducing the
filer gear we will have
too have some references
and alonger test before
getting those conservative
people too take it up
My love too all
William Gleason
