This issue of The Voice was published nine days prior to the racial uprising that occurred in Rochester in July 1964. It features an article discussing a statement made by the Real Estate Board of Rochester regarding discrimination in housing. Another section contains the “Rochester Declaration of Democracy,” which demands the full enjoyment of all public facilities and prerogatives as an inherent right. A third editorial article discusses the Catholic viewpoint on racial equality.
