Photograph, ice skating on the Erie Canal

Ice skating on the Erie Canal was a popular winter activity. This skating rink was located on the Genesee Aqueduct in downtown Rochester, NY. The view faces east. In the distance, an advertisement for the Union Clothing Company is visible on the retaining wall that separated the canal from South Avenue. The Osburn House hotel stands behind it.
